About Adrian

From Romania to Canada. From Engineer to Global Travel Executive. From Mentee to Mentor.

My story is not simply about building a career. It is about curiosity, resilience, cultures, people, and the willingness to start again with humility and purpose.

Professional identity

Travel executive first. Mentor and community advocate by purpose.

Adrian Ghisa is a travel technology executive, global growth leader and TRIEC mentor with more than 20 years of experience across travel, e-commerce, digital marketing, metasearch, strategic partnerships and international expansion. Through Arrive & Rise Canada, he shares lessons learned as a newcomer, mentor and leader to help others build successful careers in Canada.

Arrive & Rise Canada is a community initiative that reflects Adrian’s newcomer journey and mentoring work. It is intentionally positioned as a complement to his travel technology leadership, not a replacement for it.

The bigger journey

More than a career path — a journey across cultures.

Long before I built a career in travel technology, I was fascinated by people: how they live, work, eat, celebrate, build relationships, and see the world.

My passion for meeting other cultures, discovering cuisines, and connecting with people from all over the world became one of the reasons travel felt so natural to me. Travel was never only about flights, bookings, or technology. It was about connection.

That curiosity shaped how I built teams, partnerships, and businesses across markets. It also shaped how I arrived in Canada: open to learning, ready to adapt, and determined to understand the people and culture around me.

Starting Over in Canada

01

Arriving with experience, but needing to rebuild context

Like many newcomers, I arrived with ambition, professional experience, and a strong desire to contribute. But I also had to learn a new culture, a new market, new workplace expectations, and a different way of building trust.

02

Learning how to translate international experience

One of the most important lessons was understanding how to communicate global experience in a way that resonated with Canadian employers, colleagues, and professional networks.

03

Growing through mentorship and community

TRIEC helped me improve my job search, interview readiness, confidence, and network. That support made a meaningful difference and eventually inspired me to give back as a mentor.

Building a Global Career

Engineer at the foundation

A technical and analytical foundation that still shapes how I think about systems, products, and business problems.

Agency and digital leadership

Led digital marketing, customer acquisition, and growth initiatives across major brands, campaigns, and markets.

Travel technology and OTA growth

Built expertise across metasearch, SEM, affiliate, SEO, partnerships, integrations, and global go-to-market strategy.

Global teams and partnerships

Worked with teams and partners across Canada, the United States, India, Ukraine, Romania, Hungary, Mexico, Australia, and Europe.

Mentorship and giving back

Using my experience to help newcomers navigate Canada with more confidence, clarity, and practical support.

Full circle

From mentee to mentor.

When I first engaged with TRIEC, I was looking for guidance, perspective, and practical support. The mentorship I received helped me understand the Canadian professional landscape and gave me the confidence to keep moving forward.

Today, mentoring is one of the most meaningful parts of my work. I do not see it as having all the answers. I see it as listening, sharing what I have learned, helping people see their own value, and giving them the encouragement to take the next step.

“Mentorship is not only about sharing knowledge. It is about helping people recognize opportunities they may not yet see for themselves.”

Beyond Work

🌍

Cultures

I love learning how people live, think, work, and connect across different parts of the world.

🍽️

Cuisines

Food has always been one of my favourite ways to understand a place, a story, and a community.

🤝

People

Some of the most important opportunities in life begin with genuine human connection.

✈️

Travel

Travel opened my mind and eventually became the industry where I built much of my career.

Why Arrive & Rise exists

To make the newcomer path a little clearer.

The path is different for everyone, but many of the questions are shared: How do I build a network? How do I explain my experience? How do I understand workplace culture? How do I rebuild confidence?

Arrive & Rise Canada is my way of sharing practical resources, real-world insights, and honest experiences that help newcomers build successful careers and meaningful lives in Canada.
